*Dr. Isaac Fischelson, main character, senior philosophy professor.
*Zebulon Johnson (Zeb), impoverished math student in his junior year. Dr. Fischelson’s protégé.
Barbara Fowler, Dean of Faculty who’s eager to push out Dr. Fischelson.
Rory, Winston College president. Cool and slick, always walking tight rope to keep the college afloat.
Agatha “The Good”, deceased former Winston College president. The voice Isaac hears in tense moments.
*Alexandra, freshman art student, chaos catalyst.
*Sarah, evangelical Christian of genuine faith who’s very much out of place at Winston. Freshman studying Classics, attends Apology class, only female student to go on Greece trip. Smart, sexy, insecure.
Dr. Angela Petersen, teaches journalism at Winston, goes on Greece trip to accompany Sarah (for reasons that will be made clear).
Derek, another Classics student who attends Apology class and goes on Greece trip.
Julian Rey, sophisticated sophomore philosophy student who adores Nietzsche but won’t admit it. Gay, but not interested in labels. Possibly on the spectrum. Goes on Greece trip.
Uri “Mobster Uri”, a too-clever junior philosophy student who considers himself a Kantian. Gets involved with Alexandra.
Joshua “Joshua Bear”, Uri’s friend. Also a junior philosophy student. Less of a jerk, but only by a little. Also gets involved with Alexandra.
Daniel “Daniel the Jesus Freak Carpenter” head custodian at Winston. Heavily evangelical.
James “James the Janitor” wisely stays above the fray.
